Discussing Questions And Answers About Dog Food Brands

Steven asks…

Am I supposed to feed my dog multiple food brands at such a young age?

In recent weeks, I received a small puppy that is apparently a border collie mutt. However, we don’t know what foods to give her so we are just giving her multiple foods from different brands. For example, in the first week we gave her adult dog food from Pedigree even though she’s still a month and a half and the second week we gave her Royal Canin and also IAMs Adult food for large breed dogs. Is this good!? What should I feed her!?

Jimmy answers:

If your puppy is that young is better that you feed her puppy food. Puppy food is better because it gives them all the nutrients they need. The brand doesn’t matter as long as it is a meat based and small enough for him to eat. I prefer to feed them dry food, it is better for them to eat and better for their teeth. Also if you see that she is having problems eating it, you can soak the food in water to make it softer (but only for 1 or 2 weeks). Remember the brand is not important but the main ingredients of the food a lot of brands use corn based instead of meat based just check for that.

Ruth asks…

what are the safe dog food brands?

im gonna start mixing some dog food into my puppy’s milk so he gets to chew something.. and i read that many brands are not safe like alpo, pedigree, royal cannin. etc. so im just wondering what are the safe food brands, safe to feed my baby?
i actually read that science diet are really bad for dogs.. they cuase harm so u better stop too
i heard that nutro is bad too

Jimmy answers:

Vets certainly WILL NOT tell you which dog brand is the best, ask people who have goen to them, I am not saying vets are evfil by any menas, but they as docotrs have financial reasons to advocate one brand over the other.

Eagle Pakc
Innova EVO
Are a few VERY good dog foods

Any widely available commercial dog food, i.e. Science Diet, Pedigree, ALPO, Kibbles n Bits, are not ver yhealthy for your dog, having fillers and meat by products that are not fit for the landfill let alone your dogs stomach.

Always look for the Guaranteed Analysis on the bag, and try to get grain free. Dog’s diegestive systems are not made to handle grain in their food.

Susan asks…

which of these dog food brands is the best?

Ingredients:Turkey/ Chicken/ Chicken Meal/ Barley/ Brown Rice/ Potatos/ Rice/ Chicken Fat/ Natural Flavors/ Flaxseed Meal/ Herring Oil/ Sunflower Oil/ Apples/ Carrots/ Cottage Cheese/ Alfalfa Sprouts/ Egg/ Garlic/ Potassium Chloride/ Ascorbic Acid/ Chicory Root Extract/ Beta Carotene/ Vitamin E Supplement/ Rosemary Extract/ Calcium Carbonate/ Choline Chloride/ Direct-Fed Microbials/ Vitamins and Minerals.

Is this a good dog food? I have been looking for a good one, and the ones i thought were good like “science diet” and “Nutro” had all kinds of fillers and by-products…I was astonished and highly disapointed, they werent much better than wal-mart brands, so yea, just tell me what you think!

thanks! Jess.

Jimmy answers:

I would have to say innova. Look at the first line of innova there is Ingredients:Turkey/ Chicken/ Chicken Meal witch is really good dog food from what i learned. But if you look on the other brand there is other stuff but not good meats that dogs need. I would have to say innova is the better brand but h have heard that they ar both good brands. But on the first line of a really good dog foood brand it should have listed 3 to 4 diffrent kinds of meat. And i shouldent have rice and wheat and stuff like that. Good luck!
