Jimmy answers:

2 lbs ground turkey
3 cups assorted fresh vegetables, chopped
1 egg
2 cups cooked brown rice

Place meat & veggies in large skillet with a little bit of water.
Cook over medium heat.
Add egg and quickly scramble into mixture.
When meat is cooked through, veggies should be tender.
Mix in cooked brown rice & serve.
3 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 cup plain cooked white rice
1 cup cooked plain carrots
1 cup low fat cottage cheese

Boil chicken breasts in a small amount of water until done; chop. Cook carrots in a small amount of water until tender but not mushy. Mix both with the rice and cottage cheese. You may want to add some broth from the meat or carrots if it seems too dry.
A nice plain meal to get your baby ‘firmed up.’ Keep any leftovers in the fridge.
Optional flavorings (add 1 if desired): 1/4 cup mashed banana; 1/4 cup mashed or chopped plain potatoes; 1/4 cup low-fat cheddar cheese.
Remember to go easy since you’re trying to get their little tummies back to normal!
1 1/2 cups dried black beans
1 1/2 cups dried red kidney beans
1 (16 ounce) can sweet potatoes
3 cups dry lentils
1 lb ground turkey
2 lbs chicken gizzards
2 1/2 cups brown rice
2 1/2 cups white rice
2 cups oats
1 lb frozen spinach
1/2 lb frozen carrots
1/2 lb frozen peas
2 cups blackstrap molasses
2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
1/4 cup flax seeds
3 cups powdered milk
1 banana
1/4 cup soybean oil

Cook the beans and the rice until they are nice and soft. For this step, I usually use a slowcooker-add beans, rice, and enough water to cook(this filled up mine completely, so I really didn’t bother to measure.) No soaking necessary, just let them cook for about 4-5 hours.
Mince chicken gizzards. Again, gadgets make life easy here-I recommend a food processor.
Pour soybean oil into a very large stockpan. Add gizzards and turkey. Simmer until meat is cooked.
Add lentils, oats, approximately 4 cups water(I eyeball this also), and simmer until lentils are soft, about 15 minutes.
Add everything else, simmer til veggies are heated through.
Mix beans and rice with meat and vegetable mixture, put in large container to go in fridge or divide into smaller portions and freeze some for later.

1 ounce tuna in vegetable oil (undrained)
1-2 egg
1/4 cup brown rice (optional)

If desired, cook brown rice according to package instructions. (Do not substitute white rice as it does not have same nutritional values!).
In skillet, scramble egg (use two if you’ve got a larger cat).
Pour tuna & oil into skillet and mix well. Add brown rice if desired.
Serve warm!
1 lb chicken giblets or boneless chicken breasts
1 cup green beans
1-2 cup chicken broth

Boil chicken until tender and cooked through.
Steam green beans.
Place green beans & chicken in food processor or blender. Blend to a consistency you’re comfortable with (my cat refused to eat anything that wasn’t cut up for him, so I always went with pureed).
Add enough chicken broth to make a soup.
Note: Can be stored in airtight container in refrigerator up to a week. May need to be warmed in microwave before serving leftovers.
2 ounces 80% lean ground beef
1 teaspoon chicken fat or beef fat or vegetable fat or fish oil
1/3 cup instant rice, cooked
1/4 teaspoon ground bone meal
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 pinch taurine

Bake, fry or microwave the beef and fat (do not drain).
Combine beef with remaining ingredients except for the tablet.
Mix Well.
Serve with the tablet (either in pill form or pulverized and thoroughly mixed with the food).

ooops! I just realized i already answered this one before for you…. :)

George asks…

why do cookies baked with arrowroot flour crack?

I am a baker for an all natural dog food company. I bake the treats. “Cherry-Almond”
The recipe is one part arrowroot flour and one part potato flour. {with cherries, almond meal, canola oil, and vanilla, and eggs- in order of weight} I have been baking them at 230 degrees for 2.5-3 hours, in an idustrial bakers oven. 150,000 btu burner. They are sometimes perfect, and other times cracked, brittle, and useless. suggestions toward baking tactics, or mixing tactics are greatly appreciated. Is there a binder i should be useing.

Jimmy answers:

Arrowroot is used as a thickener like corn starch is so it will absorb any water in the dough.

I’m aslo wondering about the potato flour, which has no protein to act as a binder.

Maybe try mixing the starches with the oil first, which would slow the absorbtion of the water.

If you can spray the oven with water halfway through the baking process. The incressed humidity with prevent drying out, but will not stop the baking process. If you have a deck oven, put a pot of water in the oven.

It is a new type of baking for me so these are just ideas…
